Felt very greatly blessed to spend around 5-6 hours in the whole of this ashram premises. Could sit for an hour in the bhajan hall chanting the maha mantra and then moved on to buy few books from the book store, spent some time in the well stocked library , then again sat in the samadhi Mandir chanting Om namo Narayana. It was wonderful to read the life stories of Swami Shivananda on the side walls of the samadhi Mandir. On the whole it was a very divine experience for me. Then, we went out briefly for an hour and then came back to visit the vishwanath temple which opens at 4 pm and after that we went to the 'Gurudev kutir'. It was a very divine experience to go around swamijis living quarters and look at the clothes and writing things, his furniture etc. Wonderful feeling cannot be explained in words. We took part in the bhajan which started at 5:30. I had the good fortune to lead one bhajan . At around 6:15 pm, we left to witness the Ganga arathi a few metres away from the steps of the Gurudev mandir. Would really love to visit again.

A truly peaceful and spiritually uplifting place in Rishikesh. The Divine Life Society (Sivananda Ashram) is beautifully located near the banks of the Ganga, close to Ram Jhula, yet away from the tourist chaos. The ashram up a flight of steps.. atmosphere is serene, disciplined, and simple, ideal for meditation, self-reflection, and inner calm. Daily satsangs, prayers, chanting, and yoga sessions are well-organized and deeply soothing. The teachings of Swami Sivananda are clearly reflected in the ashram’s way of life — focusing on service, purity, and devotion. The campus is clean, spacious, and well maintained, with temples, swamijis samadhi cum meditation halls, a library, and book stores offering authentic spiritual literature. Staff and residents are polite and helpful, though the ashram follows strict rules, which adds to its spiritual discipline. Just across the road one can pay respect at Swamjis kutir.. where one can have a peek at his abode.

Good attomospear. Starting from morning 5 am to night 9:30 different speryial activity are going on all days. Pre approval required to stay. Stay and food free of cost.
